50 Import/Export Points

Welcome to this demonstration on Bonus Tools – Import/Export Points.

This tool allows you to Import families to a specified location point.

This Tool is available for Revit 2014 and newer versions of Revit.

  1. To run the tool, navigate to the Bonus Tools Tab and select Import/Export Points.
  2. 50 ImportExport Points

  3. The Import/Export Points dialog will appear.

  5. Choose either to Export or Import Points.
  6. Export

    1. Choose the selection set: Current View, Current Selection or Entire Project to filter the Text selection.

    3. Choose the Base Point: Relative, Survey or Project.
    4. 50 ImportExport Points

    5. Select the Category you would like to work with.
    6. 50 ImportExport Points

    7. Select an Output file by Clicking on the button at the end of the Output file text box.

    9. Navigate to and enter a name for the output file.

    11. Click Ok.

    13. A confirmation dialog will show confirming the number of exported points.

    15. View the output file for results.

  7. Import

    1. Choose the Base Point: Relative, Survey or Project.
    2. 50 ImportExport Points

    3. Select the Family and Type you want to import to the given coordinates.
    4. 50 ImportExport Points

    5. Select an Input file by Clicking on the button at the end of the Input file text box.
    6. 50 ImportExport Points

    7. Navigate to and select an input file.
    8. 50 ImportExport Points

      Note: The file should be formatted X , Y , Z, Rotation (optional)

    9. Click Ok.
    10. 50 ImportExport Points

    11. A confirmation dialog will show confirming the number of points place and the number failed.
    12. 50 ImportExport Points

    13. With the dialogs closed, view the imported Families.
  8. Note: The element rotation.
