31 Setting Out Points

Welcome to this demonstration on Bonus Tools - Setting Out Points

Setting Out Points places a Generic Family at corner points for either Structural Columns, Structural Framing, Structural Foundations, Floors, Ramps and Walls.

1. To run the tool, navigate to the Bonus Tools Tab and select Set SOP's.

3. The Setting Out Points dialog will appear.

4. 

5. Choose either a selection set, either: the Current View, the Current Selection or the Entire Project.

6. 

7. Select a Generic Family by Clicking on the button at the end of the text box.

8. 

9. Navigate to and select and Generic Family.

10. 

    Note: By default one comes with the tool.

11. On the second tab Shared Parameters, you will see some default Shared Parameter GUIDs that the tool will use to push information into. You can modify these to point to your own Company specific Shared Parameters if you wish.

    Note: At any point you can select the Reset Settings button to reset the GUIDs and Generic Family Path.

13. With the Selection Set made, the Generic Family choose, and the GUIDs confirmed, select Ok.
14. A dialog will appear confirming the Generic Family has been loaded or found and contains the two Types required, this also confirms the completion of the operation. 
15. You will also see a dialog which confirms the Shared Parameter GUIDs that were used.

17. When complete you can close the dialogs and go to a 3D view to see the newly created Setting Out Points at the corners of the Elements in the selection set.

19. If you select a setting out point you will notice Shared Parameters are filled out with Locations of the Point, the Point number and the Host Type & ID.

21. You can then select the newly created points and decided one by one if they are major or minor, swapping the types of the Generic Family.

23. You can then use the Renumber Setting out Points to renumber the Major Points to have a Prefix of SOP and be given a sequential number.
24. To do this, navigate to the Bonus Tools Tab and select Renumber SOP's.
25. A dialog will appear confirming the Generic Family has been loaded or found and contains the two Types required, this also confirms the completion of the operation.

27. If you now select a Major Setting Out Point you will notice the Point Number has been modified.
