Welcome to this demonstration on Bonus Tools-123 Sub Category Map.

This tool will allow you to Export and Import Category and Sub-Category settings expediating file standardisation.

  1. Find 123 Sub Category Map on a Bonus Tools Tab and select it to run.
  2. Select Export to export settings or Import to import settings/
  3. Exporting
    1. The tool will gather and export settings to excel. Depending on the size of the project this could take some time.
    2. Excel will open.
  4. Modifying the excel file
    1. You modify the contents and import into a Revit file. Below explains how and what to edit. There are 3 primary options
      • New - To add new rows to introduce new Subcategories
      • Delete - To remove unwanted Subcategories. Categories can not be removed. Elements associated to a Deleted Subcategory will re-associate with the Category, as they would if you did this process manually, i.e. if you had a Subcategory Swing on a Door, and deleted the Swing Subcategory all 2 and 3d elements will now be associated with Door, noting with will affect their display.
      • Update - To change: Line Weight ProjectionLine Weight CutLine Colour RLine Colour GLine Colour BLine Pattern, and Material where possible.
    2. Row 1, do not edit or delete, during import Row 1 is used to read the excel file.
    3. Row 1 headings and any specific use causes:
      1. Category Name
        • This can not be updated!!!
        • If adding new please use valid Autodesk Revit Category Names
      2. Subcategory Name
        • This can not be updated!!!
        • Will be "null" for the primary category.
      3. Line Weight Projection
        • 1 - 16 standard cut weight
        • -1 where a line weight was not entered
        • 0 NA
      4. Line Weight Cut
        • 1 - 16 standard cut weight
        • -1 where a line weight was not entered
        • 100 where the object style does not contain a cut weight, i.e. an Annotation Object

      8. Line Pattern
        • The Line Pattern name. If the entered name (Line Pattern) does not exist then the app will create a default Line Pattern that you can latter apply settings too.
      9. Material
        • The Material name. If the entered name (Material) does not exist then the app will create a default Material that you can latter apply settings too.
      10. Category Type
        • This can not be altered, for information only.
      11. New/Delete/Update
        • This column must be modified to equal the desired change. If it does not contain New, Delete, or Update (only) then the row will be skipped!
        • Note:

          • If New is entered but the Style existing then it will update

          • If Update is entered but no Style is found then it will create the style.
